Prepare to be Pampered...join us at The Berry Hill Resort in South Boston, Virginia as Spring arrives! This retreat is unique as it includes both Cross Stitchers & Quilters.
Retreat features Spacious stitching & sewing space, great sleeping rooms, delicious catered meals and lots of natural lighting, all on a 700 acre historic property. Stitchers will receive primary project Pre-Stitch Kit sent early & the Finishing Kit for Saturday, included in your retreat fee!

Designers will pop in to share tips and techniques for sewing, demos, and give a few teasers on their projects for upcoming retreats. Whether you're a seasoned sewist or just starting out, join us for a weekend of stitching, learning and laughing!
Join us for our second annual winter virtual retreat and get a sneak preview from our 2027 featured quilt and cross stitch designers. We will have a quick organization sewing project to be announced later.
Goodie Boxes filled with treats, pattern pack with a pattern from each designer, surprises and optional project kits ship in early January.

Christmas in Old Salem Retreat – December 3-6, 2026

This special retreat will be held at the Hampton Inn Downtown Winston-Salem and promises a weekend of holiday joy, creative projects, and fun with friends and family. It’s the perfect way to kick off the season with fellow quilters and stitchers!
Enjoy four days of immersive sewing, with hands-on demos, expert instruction, and plenty of time to work on your holiday projects. Whether you're stitching up gifts or creating your own seasonal masterpiece, you’ll have all the support and inspiration you need. This retreat is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. Don't miss out on this magical holiday retreat experience!
A special treat: Annette from Southwind Designs will be teaching a class using a new pattern with dimensional curves starting at 9 am on Thursday morning. This is an optional add on for those who want to get started early.
With lunches included and numerous local restaurants nearby for dinner, there’s plenty of opportunity to relax, socialize, and soak in the charm of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Plan to arrive early Thursday to explore Old Salem and enjoy a cozy lunch at Muddy Creek Café before the retreat officially begins at 1 pm.

Join us for a wonderful weekend with Giuseppe Ribaudo AKA Giucy Giuce and Alison Glass. It's kickoff time for their latest joint Sew Along and we benefit! Pattern and supplies included for a fun project you'll work on during Saturday's workshop. Sneak peeks closer to the retreat!
Our November Retreat is traditionally the introduction of our Holiday Gifts-A-Making Box, a box filled with 9+ patterns, fabrics and all supplies to make a selection of holiday gifts. We'll have technique demos for the box projects. More details later on our 6th annual box.
PLUS Patti Bender will be holding a Tamarack Jacket Workshop BEFORE the retreat, starting Wednesday noon. A Zoom session will be held prior to the retreat for help with sizing and fabric selection. No prior garment sewing experience needed.
As of January 1, this retreat is on waitlist. 12 names from the waitlist will be invited on Jan 6th, the 12th day of Christmas. Additional names will be invited as life happens and attendees are unable to attend. Please let us know in the notes to us if you are able to fill a spot at the last minute.

What Can I Expect?

Each retreat has its own personality

Hotel Madison:
- Spacious individual sewing tables to spread out and leave your projects set up overnight
- Lots of windows with natural and room lighting
- Ironing, cutting and design stations, plus light tables available upon request
- Arrive Thursday at 1 pm and sew through Sunday at 4 pm
- Sew all night—the room stays open as long as at least two people are present
- Full hot breakfast buffet included for guests staying in the group room block
- 3 lunches and 2 dinners included, with attention paid to food allergies

- Keep sewing into the evening—the room stays open as long as at least two people are present
- Arrive Thursday at 1 pm to get settled, set up and start sewing
- Gathering spots to sit, sip, stitch and connect with fellow attendees
- Enjoy Show & Tell as you complete your projects
- Convenient ironing, cutting and design stations, plus light tables available upon request

We take health & safety seriously and are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. We want you to feel comfortable and confident in the steps we take to make your "Sew-cation" AWAY from home a safe and enjoyable experience!
- Health & safety practices are followed at every retreat throughout the year, not just during flu, COVID & strep seasons.
- We and our retreat partners make regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces a priority.
- Sewists who are not traveling together are seated 6 feet apart.
- Our retreats offer LOTS of space, allowing everyone plenty of room to spread out.
- Goodies, treats & gifts are individually wrapped.
- Frequently used items are provided in personal, individual-sized containers.
- Please be considerate of fellow attendees and stay home if you are feeling sick.
Life Happens!
If illness or another unexpected circumstance prevents you from attending your retreat, we'll do our best to work with you...
- Have a friend who would like to attend in your place? We accept transfers!
- Your initial deposit ($100–$150) may be transferred to a future retreat within the next 12 months.
- More than 120 days before the retreat, all payments, less the deposit and processing fees, may be transferred to another retreat or refunded to the original payment source.
- 30–120 days before the retreat, uncommitted funds, less the deposit and processing fees, may be transferred to a future retreat or refunded. Please note that some venues require advance payment for guaranteed meals and space.
- Within 30 days of the retreat, full refunds cannot be made. However, your payments may be transferred to another attendee taking your place at any time.
